Biden Toasts Media for Ignoring Julian Assange
Joe Biden and his media come together in celebration to mock the journalist they hold hostage
For the second year in a row at the White House Correspondents’ dinner President Joe Biden was massaged with the blind loyalty of his corporate press, a ruler and his cronies guffawing at the world’s most famous journalist who couldn’t make it to the event.
The hypocrisy, which echoes last year’s brave praise from Biden buddy Trevor Noah, shows how dangerously incestuous the relationship between the media and government has become. In diligent stenography the New York Times tweeted a single quote from Biden’s speech: “Journalism is not a crime.”
And yet they watch in abetted silence as Julian Assange is tortured in a life sentence for publishing the same material they did.
So, as actual journalists, unlike the people laughing and clapping at the duplicitous toasts to the First Amendment, Aaron and Katie are standing up and throwing down for Julian Assange. Watch their takedown of a fraudulent ode to journalism.
