Hey Useful Idiots,
This week on Meet the Press, our favorite conspiracy theorist Chuck Todd scoffed at the idea of entertaining conspiracy theories about the Chinese balloon: “A man like Chuck Todd is far too serious for such lunacy!” the frequent spreader of conspiratorial lies declared, weirdly referring to himself in the third person. “Maybe on Fox News, but never on Chuck Todd’s network!”
He then proceeded to explain how the Russians will steal the 2024 election using only memes and videos of people getting peed on. They will then team up with the Chinese, he told MSNBC’s hundreds of viewers, expertly using balloons to beam up all the Democrat votes, leaving only the GOP votes. This is why World War III is not only necessary, but preferred. Todd ended his monologue by vigorously stroking his notes: a job well done.
We at Useful Idiots, however, do not have the corporate overseers Chuck has, and thus are not forced to maintain such journalistic rigor. That’s why this week’s Absurd Arena is all about: conspiracy theories. What are the craziest theories you’ve ever heard? Which are the funniest? What are the craziest theories that mainstream media believes? Which, of all the crazy ones out there, might actually be true?
Remember, this is the absurd arena, so if your conspiracies get increasingly wild or even made up, we’re all going down that rabbit hole together.

My own conspiracy theory (I think I posted last week on UI) is that the leak to Seymour Hersch was approved by the White House to provoke Russia into attacking the US. Ukraine will lose the war if NATO is not directly involved. Provoking Russia to attack, or at least into doing something the US can somehow claim was an attack, would allow the US to - as usual - say we are "dragged into the war."
