Vote for genocidal democrat party? No, not until they stop genocide and give me a reason to vote for them besides But Trump.

Suppose congress passed a law saying when you sell your car, you must sell it to either the Democrat or Republican Party. The Republicans offer $100 and the Democrats offer $200. What do you do?

I choose to NOT sell my car. The difference isn’t large enough.

Vote for a guy that wants to help with childcare as opposed to a wealthy 75 year old dude who was accused of harassing 12 female employees . How does this make the life of women or jewish workers better. I think the voters respected and loved, when Zohran he was not going to the middle east.

I’m in error: I should have added the Democrats to the list of players who mislead the voters about democratic socialism and Mamdani in particular.

Isn’t this Mamdani guy a socialist? Will be interesting to see if he actually gets elected and implements socialist policies like city run grocery stores…

Do we really think socialism is the answer? - the past track record is pretty bad. Isn’t the American success story compelling enough to make folks want to continue our free market and free speech and free ideas experiment? Flaws and all?

This guy is a pretty radical departure from our current system of free markets and free association.

Love his independent views on the Middle East but it’s not worth risking our freedom.

He's not a socialist at all. He's a democratic socialist. I'm still always surprised at how few people know the difference. Democratic socialists are capitalists that want to implement and improve social welfare programs like northern European countries.

PS the reason why the "track record " for socialism is so "bad" is largely because of debilitating and destabilizing sanctions, aggression, and general hostility from capitalist nations. The west actively wanted them to fail. Hence bombing and sanctioning the crap out of them.

PPS it is literally not possible to implement real socialism in one city in a capitalist nation

Getting groceries at fair prices will not hinder your freedom. You can still choose to buy at higher prices from corporate shops!

The road to hell is paved with good intentions. Lacking the time and energy to explain how subsidized groceries will hurt non-subsidized businesses, etc. - Suffice to say we’ll be watching this unfold over time. Ultimately yes cheap groceries will cost huh your freedom.

Change always causes some pain, particularly in an environment of pure competition. But there are reasons why the small non subsidized grocers have to charge such exorbitant prices, and it's because our system favors large businesses and monopolies after decades of deregulation. Your answer is to keep grocery prices exorbitantly and artificially high and keep people suffering.

The right and mainstream media are taking advantage of people’s confusion of the terms “democratic socialism” and “socialism;”and then the confusion of “socialism” and “communism” to frighten people against Mamdani and others who endorse our government providing basic human services, such as health and education. There is no agenda to deprive anyone of private property, unless you count the future exorbitant profits of the healthcare industry.

I would like to know more about Mamdani — has he been a councilman in NY? Where has he worked and for whom? I don’t live in the north east and never have so I’m not familiar with politics up there other than what’s in the news. It makes no sense to me that New Yorkers would care about his views on international politics as the mayor of NY doesn’t make any international policy that I’m aware of.
