The fact that even genocidal behavior against a mostly unarmed, civilian population is excused with the platitude of Israel “defending itself” indicates it’s widely played as the Zionists' get out of jail free card no matter what they do. To me it hearkens back to Dick Cheney’s so-called one percent doctrine used to trigger preemptive war. That is, if there’s even a 1% chance of something unimaginable occurring then it’s OK to act as if your perceived threat is a certainty. No need for facts or evidence or to justify your actions. Thus so-called international humanitarian law was breached for the invasion & occupation of Iraq & its accompanying atrocities. A breach that Israel has since torn wide open.

Haaretz article August 5th reports a survey: "A vast majority of Israeli Jews – 79 percent – say they are "not so troubled" or "not troubled at all" by the reports of famine and suffering among the Palestinian population in Gaza, according to a poll released Tuesday." It is a sick society that needs strong external actions to survive from its self destruction, and hopefully Palestinians will get "collateral benefits" instead of damage.
