The West is morally bankrupt. America is financially bankrupt. But the smart loans are on the new Bible Casino on the Gaza Strip. There will be liquor stores, shoe shops, and titty bars.

The reason the arc of history bends towards justice, I believe, is because the average person will do the right thing when given a chance. The problem is that so many of our leaders are sociopaths and narcissists that the culture becomes that way. We have to find a way to let the average person decide what is to be done. A true challenge, and likely a never ending one.

Education is always the first step. Thank you Katie and Matt for bringing Norm on.

This is a dreadful comment, but nevertheless a lucid one.

I have great respect for Prof Finkelstein. But I disagree on one significant point. It is entirely possible that the October attack by Hamas was expected and even encouraged by Netanyahu. That it was a set up. That one way or another Netanyahu was going to force a militant response by the Palestinians. It’s true that Israel had a vastly superior military force backed by the US. Israel, under the current evil and utterly ruthless government, is entirely free to commit genocide. Which is what the current government and the majority of Israelis, are eager to engage in. Under these circumstances the desires and strategies of Hamas and Palestinians in general will have zero significant influence. If Hamas had declined to attack, Netanyahu and his insane government would have found other ways to orchestrate an militant expression of anger by the Palestinians, or simply force a response that gives the appearance of a militant, dangerous, response. The Israelis and the US Empire are completely in the drivers seat in this situation. Without a huge international and powerfully moral reaction by the People of the World the Palestinians were and are doomed. So far the failure of world governments and the UN has been extravagant and horrific. And brings into question the nature humanity itself. It’s not just the Palestinians that are at risk. It’s all the beleaguered and struggling People worldwide! Are we not capable, with our wealth, technology, and capacity for compassion, of saving everyone? Shouldn’t that be our goal, our intention? Without that as our goal, what are we?

After reading such a detailed account of the horrors or war, I am left still wanting for answers:

1. If this is indeed a Genocide, as is so often claimed, what is the logic of drawing it out? Certainly Israel with American blood stained money is fully capable of doing in quick order what was done to them. Has not our technology for death and destruction been elevated to such heights to put the Riech to shame?

2. What if any fault lays at the feet of the leaders and leadership of the Palestinian people?

3. What is to be done after all the bomb have been dropped, rockets have been launched and bullets been fired? What are we collectively expecting to happen? What does this small area of the world look like in 10-25 years? A generation?

Time to be actively stopping money flow of wealthy american zionists laundrying $$ to kill Arabs/Palestinians/Syrians/Lebonese in there Middle East. Could investigative reports slough out who's doing this so we can protest in front of their mansions homes/businesses.

Time for talk is over,

otherwise we watch ethnic cleansing of non Jews in the Middle East.

**Enough**

"if you do nothing it will get worse" ---------- yes, and as Plato's Republic argued, there is no political remedy for it.

Take to the streets, protest, but it wont make a dent.
