The Absurd Arena – Useful Idiots Discussion Board "New Years Edition"
For the Useful Idiots who think they can talk back to a podcast.
Hey Useful Idiots,
We finally did it. We kicked 2022. Now, on the verge of a new chapter, we can ask: will 2023 be any different? And, maybe more importantly, WTF actually happened in 2022?
This week, we’re looking back at a year which began a war, crushed us with an insufferable election season, bored us with Jan 6 hearings, and let so many down (see: workers, teachers, students, anyone with a pulse really).
But, as Useful Idiots do best, the darker the times, the more there is to make fun of, and this year, we’ve been lucky to have you by our side, laughing at sucky politicians as they grasp desperately to extend their power.
In today’s arena, we want to hear your favorite moments from the last year with us, whether it’s the guests you loved to hear from, the weirds and terribles with Katie and Aaron, the awful media moments, or the suckiest Dems and Republicans.
But remember, this is the absurd arena, which means you can talk about anything you want: Useful Idiots outtakes, the funniest live moments from Monday Mourning, election coverage madness, Aaron and Katie’s greatest rants, or the most brutal guest takedowns of politicians.
This week, I’m going to be editing together the best clips from the past year into a Best of Useful Idiots 2022 special. Help me out with today’s prompt:
What are your favorite Useful Idiot moments of 2022?
My picks for 2023 interviews: The Duran (or a sole interview with Alexander Mercouris) and Nick Cruse. of RBN.
My favs anytime of the year: Norman Finkelstein, Vijay Prashad, Glenn Greenwald, Thomas Frank, Chris Hedges, and Richard Wolff.
For Russia and/or Ukraine: Scott Ritter, Douglas McGegor, Lindsey Snell, and Ben Abelow.
For bringing the fire: Mick Wallace and Clare Daley.
Monday Mourning funny moments: Farewell to Brian Stelter and the MSM Celebrates the Disinformation Governance Board.
A reading of a Thomas Friedman Masterpiece was quite hilarious.
My award for an Unhappy New Year, or should I say, Unhappy New Jeer, goes to Joe Biden for breaking the Rail Road workers strike, Nancy Pelosi for blocking the tiniest bit of progressive legislation, and to Adam Schiff because he is, well, Adam Schiff.
Honorable mention goes to The Squad for an underwhelming performance...or should I say just performative.
Adolf Reed jr interview! I love that guy and his ability to call bullshit bullshit.
