Be wary when an establishment guy like Weiner says "the CIA didn't work with al Qaeda." Both al Qaeda and CIA were working closely with the Haqqani brothers AND Gulbuddin Hekmatyar in the 1980s. There's no way they didn't coordinate at least part of the time.
Aaron should be aware of weaseling around these issues, given the way CIA concealed its support of Syrian al Qaeda in the previous decade.
