Taking a break from covering up the chemical explosion that devastated East Palestine, Ohio this week, the White House went back to covering up the other major story (not) in the news: Pulitzer-prize winning journalist Seymour Hersh’s groundbreaking reporting that the US blew up the Nord Stream pipeline.

“Here’s what Biden did,” Hersh told Democracy Now! this week. “He said ‘I’m in a war in Ukraine, it’s not looking good. I want to be sure I get German and West European support. I know winter’s coming, and if it’s going to be bad, I don’t want the Germans to check out and open up the gas line because they’d be massacred with no cheap fuel.’”

So what did Biden do to fix his problem? “He took away that option.”

Now, people are freezing to death, starving, dying in Europe. And Germany is sending tanks to Ukraine. Biden: 1. Millions of Europeans: 0.

And now that Hersh uncovered the story, Biden, with the help of his corporate media cronies, is running a smear campaign to bury one of the world’s most distinguished journalists. Katie and Aaron throw down on the calculated effort to systematically ignore the story, attack Seymour Hersh, but never argue the facts.

And sadly, as with the terror in East Palestine (which is anything but the chief regulator’s fault), as always, it’s working.

It’s our Thursday bonus episode. Let us know in the comments what corporate media monologues, interviews, or anything else you want to see on the next Thursday Throwdown.
