I don't understand why the headline of this article says "Trump set forces against US citizens".
ICE is trying to deport individuals who are NOT in the country leagally, right? ICE is a federal agency. As I've read it, ICE agents have been attacked (bricks thrown, etc.). Trump sent in the National Guard to protect ICE (federal) agents from violent attack from whoever those attackers are.
How is this interpreted as "Trump set forces against US citizens"? That seem overly simplistic rhetoric, and inflamatory for the sake of inflamatory. Help me understand this.
I guess you're not real big on the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Specifically Article 13. You likely aren't an anomaly. The executives at Lockheed Martin and the rest of the war profiteers, and the US ruling class more widely, among others, indulge similar provincialism. "Everyone has the right to freedom of movement and residence within the borders of each state."Everyone has the right to leave any country, including his own, and to return to his country."
There are also internal laws in every country regarding immigration. The UN is not a governing body. I think you it would be good to look up the governing authority the UN has over any member state.
Why do you dismiss this whole article as “leftist crap”? How is it so totally wrong 😑 in your eyes? Is it all illogical or irrational? Does it contradict itself many times over? Does it contradict observations, facts or evidence? Can you give us all three examples? Can you prove all of it wrong? Can you be more specific?
Or is your opinion and stereotype image of “poor immigrants” the problem?
Look, I like Katie and Aaron as much as you guys---that's why I've been a subscriber for so long, but they _are_ in a bit of a doldrums in terms of displaying some evolution of views and original takes. Still, I have no plans to unsubscribe since their product is far from "crap".
11:10 fake news from Katie. Two protesters were not "run over" by an ICE van. One of them fell on his back and the ICE vehicle stopped, then drove around him, and the other protester threw his bike at the vehicle as it went by.
Imperial boomerang in actions - we see ethnic cleansing here and in Gaza - of course it’s not to the extent, not a genocide in America, but Trump is abusing his executive powers to flex his autocratic muscles and manufacture consent for a military take over - sending 2000 nat guards today, then ordered 2000 more, and Hegseth’s ordered 500 marines to mobilize - if this is fascism, xenophobia, and hate, what is it?
yawn... have you ever heard of the Insurrection Act? It's been invoked by sixteen US Presidents, both Democratic and Republican. Read up on it. The President has a duty to enforce immigration laws. He also has a duty to protect US citizens.
US Presidents who invoked the Insurrection Act (sent in Federal Troops)
Everything is going according to plan. Not my plan but its on track. I hope everyone is ready because shit about to be real. Remember your core principles. We defend the constitution, the rights of all peoples, the rule of law. They are immoral barbarians, BUT they can be redeemed with an overwhelming non-conditional love. Hug and refuse to let go.
The Trump regime's labeling Abrego Garcia a criminal - and all immigrants for that matter - recall's a Khalil Gibran verse. It seems to me Garcia is being persecuted to mitigate the embarrassment of the Trump cabal's actions regarding Mr. Garcia these last six months.
I think the comment about the headline had less to do with UN Human Rights protections and more to do with the headline inaccuracy. The headline says U.S. citizens, not all individuals protected by a UN declaration. There can be a difference here.
The action is being taken because of alleged violence in LA. I don't know which side is right. I do think the headline is a bit misleading.
pretty soon it'll seem quaint for powermongers to do shows of force, and/or military operations against the people. Indicated here is that the AI total takeover is not yet complete, and thus a 19th century style imperialist parade is still appropriate - fun, even. Seymour Hersh: 'It's worse than you think'.
yawn... Have you ever heard of the Insurrection Act? It's been invoked by sixteen US Presidents, both Democratic and Republican. Read up on it. The President has a duty to enforce immigration laws. He also has a duty to protect US citizens.
US Presidents who invoked the Insurrection Act (sent in Federal Troops):
Thomas Jefferson
Andrew Jackson
Abraham Lincoln
USS Grant
Rutherford Hayes
Chester Arthur
Grover Cleveland
Woodrow Wilson
Warren Harding
Herbert Hoover
FDR
Dwight Eisenhower
JFK
LBJ
Ronald Reagan
George H W Bush
Did the US become a "regime" after each one of those Presidents sent in Federal Troops? Were those Presidents "dictators" for invoking the Insurrection Act?
Did you see the list of SIXTEEN other US Presidents who invoked the Insurrection Act? Did those Presidents "invade" the US States where they sent Federal troops? JFK, was he an invader? How about FDR, also an invader? Woodrow Wilson, LBJ, Thomas Jefferson, they were "invaders"? You have Trump Derangement Syndrome. There is no cure, but you can alleviate the worst of the symptoms by refusing to watch any of the legacy media. Good luck!
why do you resort to hyperbole? Will Federal troops be sent to California? Maybe. If they are sent, it's not an "invasion" and it's not to attack minority people, it's to protect people from protests that turn violent. I don't always agree when a POTUS sends in the troops. They sent in troops to crack down on workers who were striking, I don't agree with that. Definitely don't agree with a lot of what Trump is doing. But fear of Trump becoming a dictator is absurd hyperbole. We will survive Trump just like we survived every President. We haven't had a decent President in decades. O-bomb-uh was the worst, and he's the reason we had Trump I. Biden was even worse than O-bomb-uh and he's the reason we now have Trump II.
There's also a tendency to forget that Lincoln suspended _habeas corpus_ and when the Chief Justice objected Lincoln made preparations to have the Chief Justice himself arrested. The US, like other countries, has been governed by people who have real power over your personal liberty and, when they feel the situation is sufficiently extreme (which doesn't mean you and I would agree), they use that power. That doesn't make them war criminals (especially when there's no particular war in the fact pattern).
yawn... Trump Derangement Syndrome. They've hated on Trump since 2015. They told us he was going to be a dictator. He was elected in 2016. Did he become a dictator then? He didn't, and he won't this time around. Why? Because we have a Constitution. Doesn't matter who ends up President, they can't and won't become a dictator. To presume that Trump will is the height of lunacy. Look at how people become dictators in other countries. Ain't happening here, no matter how much they've trained you to hate and fear Trump.
Well, yeah, but that's TBD. Personally, I'm willing to take long odds that we have many elections ahead of us, Trump's "third term" BS notwithstanding.
In Dostoyevsky's novel, set in the upper social class of czarist Russia, the one person in the social group that had anything redeeming about him, any honesty, was widely deemed to be an idiot by the rest of the well-to-do social group. Hence the book's title.
Great show! Thanks, Katie, Aaron and Matt. I'm looking forward to this week's Thursday Throwdown and Friday's extended episode. Sending you all positive vibes. Hope you guys have a splendid week. ☮️
Exactly. Administration is too good a word for the Trump cabal. I hear even the most progressive analytical voices utilizing the word without hesitation. Paul Street is an absolute anomaly in calling the cabal, a regime. I heard one other woman who didn't stoop to labeling the Trump cabal an administration, but rather a regime. I forget her name just now,
You might be interested to know Mr. Dwight, unless you're a Repugnican of course, that in light of Dostoyevsky's eponymous novel, "idiot" is far from a pejorative. You might want to find a better one. Check the thesaurus. Here's a URL you might find helpful: https://www.merriam-webster.com/thesaurus/idiot

Um, LITERALLY insurrection and sedition occurring. And, yes, we were invaded when 20 million illegals crossed the border....ILLEGALLY.
I can’t even keep listening to this leftist crap. “Poor illegals”. 🤮
Fuck off Nazi🤡
...profanity _and_ the Nazi trope---we are in the presence of literary genius.
I hope you suffer a serious paper cut, or stubbed toe. So if your "enemies" are nazis, what are you? How should we label you?
So why do you? Katie calls your type "hatewatchers."

Justice on earth would cause the djinn
To mock at misuse of the word
And were the dead to witness it
They'd laugh at justice in this world.
Aye. Death and prison we mete out
To small offenders of the law
While wealth, honor and full respect
On greater pirates we bestow.
To steal a flower, we call mean
To rob a field is chivalry
Who kills the body, he must die
Who kills the spirit, he goes free.

Exactly
Because it is no longer a republic, it is a regime. Regimes don't care about what the people think.

Court resends Trump’s order. 1-0, your move.
In the 1960s - were sent in to defend minority people.
Now it is to attack minority people.
So I can ask, is the regime going to invade California?

New rule: it's a "republic" if my guy wins; it's a "regime" if the other guy wins.
It is a regime if we've had the last election.

It's all divisiveness here in these comments - conditioned fools squabbling, and serving 'divide and conquer', keeping Power flourishing.
