This man is an incredible human being. I didn't want to face what he had to say, forced myself to watch this, but he's now the most solid reason I cannot support the war-mongering duopoly. I could not look this man in the eye an explain a vote for either democrats or republicans.
Katie, shocked that the US government hasn't compensated the Guantanamo victims, really? Americans in general don't care about justice and so they have created a government that is more concerned with projecting power to assuage the fears of the voting public. The people created this mess and allow it to continue with its crimes and policies developed to provide access to resources and markets to US businesses, not justice.
All Americans need to understand is that the Soviet Union wasn't an existential threat and neither is Russia. All we need to do is understand that Russia has legitimate security concerns and that expanding NATO is seen as a threat. So, stop NATO expansion and enter talks with Russia to develop a treaty that provides security guarantees. We have dire environmental problems that require international cooperation and shit like our saber rattling serves no useful purpose.
Would it be possible to put an announcement here when Matt returns? Got to be honest, I was already struggling to listen to the “funny” sections at the start of the show as it was but without the draw of Matt, I’m gonna have to bounce it’s basically the same as Katie’s own show now.
It's almost a 21st-century nonfiction "One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich." Just substitute work camps for enhanced interrogation training sessions and Stalin for unaccountable patriots.
I cringe watching Matt Taibbi promote The Wolf of Wall Street back in the day.
This was a great episode but I have concerns.
Russia is going cray - just acknowledge it. This podcast was published the same day that Ukraine was subjected to a massive state level disruption and Russia continues to escalate their presence.
On a different subject:
A bipartisan group of Congress wants to update an antiquated law that provided a loophole which a group of rioters sought to exploit.
If rioters can storm the Capitol every year with conviction they can overturn an election then we are in a dangerous position to defend our republic. I feel like there is a danger in dismissing Jan 6. I’d hate to see a component autocrat find precedent in our inattention.
It is hard to argue when people say the US is turning into an authoritarian fascist state.

I want to thank "Useful Idiots" for this inspiring and informative interview.

Meat is murder, people do not need meat to sustain life or health. VR can't hide that fact.

I’m still in.

I do not think I have the mental and emotional strength to be able to watch this
