Katrina Vanden Heuvel on Media Misinformation & Ukraine/Russia
Extended interview with the editor of The Nation
The Nation’s Katrina vanden Heuvel is one of the top anti-war Russian experts working today, but possibly the only one still allowed on mainstream media.
How did we get to the point where sending troops and weapons is the only accepted opinion on CNN, Fox, and the New York Times? Katrina explains:
“Part of the reason we’re here is the slurring and defaming of alternative voices and the inability of a system to incorporate alternative voices.”
If lobbyists, politicians, and companies don’t want us to hear anti-war voices (they don’t make money if we don’t buy weapons), they just make journalists like Katrina look like Russian apologists or even operatives. They make her the villain.
And, sadly, Katrina tells us:
“The demonization project has been successful.”
We discuss why war is bad for everyone involved, especially Ukraine, how the media and politicians spread disinformation to make war happen, and watch a great debate between Stephen Cohen and Max Boot.
And it’s pretty cool to see the smile on Katrina’s face as she watches her late-husband completely own Max Boot.
It’s all this, and more, in the Katrina vanden Heuvel extended interview on Useful Idiots. Check it out here.
Thank you for this!
Katrina vanden Heuvel participated in the cancelling of a dissident voice at her very own publication. DNC loyalists working at The Nation pressured her to get rid of Patrick Lawrence for writing a piece exposing the lie that Russia hacked the DNC. After promising to stand behind Lawrence (and her own decision to publish the piece) she shamefully and cowardly capitulated to establishment liberals. The Nation has gone downhill ever since and isn't even a shadow of its former self. Numerous people, including vanden Heuvel's late husband, the great Russianist Stephen Cohen, were well aware of what happened.
