Especially this interview, where Abbey talks about the events that precipitated the brooding war in Gaza is the kind of information we really need out there. I’d love some short clips of important information like that. Bet you it would also be good for your substack subscription.

Oh man... I shut off the vid @ the section where Katie tries and fails to make a funny regarding the slaughter of a 13 year old girl. Her descent into offensive humor is now complete. Starting w/ the necrophilia ethical dilemma while w/ RS, last week she went full scatological w/ Frank, and now she's finding it funny to criticize a headline involving a child being turned into hamburger while still alive.
And Matt didn't call her on it.

At 28 minutes in the video, a full explanation of how the gun exploded can be found at the beginning of the video "Earth-Shattering ka-Boom! How (and Why) Guns Explode" by Forgotten Weapons on YouTube. At the beginning, Ian McCollum explains what happened in that specific incident.
Also, Matt Taibbi is confusing two very different guns. The gun mounted on Humvees that can "cut a car in half" is a Browning M2 .50 machine gun, which is a fully automatic heavy machine gun. The gun that Scott DeShields, Jr., was firing was a Serbu RN-50 rifle, a single-shot .50 caliber rifle. He was using it to fire SLAP (saboted light armor penetrator) rounds into a fire hydrant.
Will gently introducing Henry Kissinger's corpse's anus to my dildo count as necrophilia? If I give gentle kisses to his back, will that count? I really don't want to do either - touch Henry Kissinger or eat shit.
The al Aqsa mosque was not on fire in that video. It was a tree and there was no damage to the mosque. It WAS Jerusalem Day and they would have been facing the Western Wall anyway, Katie. I'm disappointed that you two would be so gullible.
Agreed - this was a mischaracterization of the situation, manipulated by some to further stoke tension. NOT Katie. Again, use of the word "clashes" by corporate controlled media, this time Reuters via US News. They were CLEARLY NOT clashes. It was an armed force w/ body armor against unarmed people w/ no body armor protesting outside a mosque. How exactly did the tree get set on fire in the first place? Was it the Palestinians protesting & praying, or the firepower of the assaulting force (on Ramadan)?

New subscriber here. I learned of this podcast after reading Matt’s great book, Hate Inc. That being said, I was very surprised there was no push back from Matt or Katie when Abby Martin stated, “And then you see very disturbing images of thousands of extremist settlers chanting outside Al-Aqsa mosque as it burns.” As someone who has been following this story quite closely (reading coverage from the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, the New Yorker, and The Atlantic) I found it extremely unlikely that not a single one of these would cover such a huge story. Turns out the “burning mosque” was a burning tree that BBC has named a “false and misleading claim.” Will Useful Idiots issue some sort of formal acknowledgment of this misinformation from Abby Martin in a future episode?
Thank you so much for pointing this out. I felt the video was completely out of context and have been wondering about this myself. A simple follow- up question was in order and would have created a far more constructive and information discussion.
I wish UI would address this misinformation and have Abby and another expert on the show to discuss this and to dig deep into what lead up to and triggered the Hamas strike?

2. Clips are posted to YouTube on Monday.
* OR post ENTIRE show as Audio Only on Friday, and video clips Monday.
Or pick a different 2-day combo.
The lack of a reliable format or rules reminds me of how Katie's show is posted.
Sometimes the Entire Live show is available on YouTube the next morning.
