I watched the 2003 discussion between Dershowitz and Finkelstein. It was astonishing. He used Dershowitz' own book as a weapon against him. Alan thinks it's okay to steal from others. Finkelstein's depth of knowledge is amazing.

Matt. Katie. We need the rest of this interview.

Expand full comment

Why do I pay to get the full audio days later? Legit makes zero sense

Expand full comment

Yeah. They’re doing it backwards.

Expand full comment

Where do I find the rest of the interview with Norm?

Expand full comment

That’s what I’m trying to find too. Substack is annoying

Expand full comment

I’m also looking and just subscribed in order to get this interview. I imagined it would’ve been released together with the teaser

Expand full comment

Usually, it's available late Sunday afternoon (Eastern Time).

This interview was the best from what I've seen here. Finkelstein doesn't pull any punches. He gives only the ``brutal'' honesty.

They release it later as its own episode just for subscribers. It’s a bit odd. For $5/mo and good quality interviews i can’t complain but it’s unclear why they do it this way.

Expand full comment

I'm subscribed, but still couldn't locate it.

Expand full comment

sorry i wasn’t clear, they haven’t released it yet. they only release it for subscribers but they release it after the abbreviated version, i can’t remember how many days after.

Expand full comment

Exactly! It is very very very annoying to subscribe and then not be able to listen to and watch the full program/interview until some unspecified, unannounced time in the future. WHY?

Expand full comment

The thing that’s so great about Finkelstein is that, in addition to all his other virtues, he’s funny!

Trueannon podcast interviewed Finkelstein for almost 3 hours over 2 episodes & it was really great. Just wide ranging topics IICR & very informative about him & entertaining. I'm thinking they are patron only but hihhly recommend even if you have to pay the $5 for a month.

We’re is the rest Of the interview

I signed up to listen to the bonus content with Norm but only see the content already posted on YouTube here. Where is the extended interview mentioned at the end of the video? 🙏

To Finklestein - The Right doesn't 'cancel'. Cancel Culture is a phenomenon solely of the LEFT; They negate (cancel) and ostrasize (mob culture, mobbing). The Right just ignores stuff it isn't interested in or doesn't find relative; The Right is not totalitarian like the Left. BIG difference.

Expand full comment

The right cancels all the time, conservatives have always been vicious opponents of freedom of speech. Norman Finkelstein himself is a living breathing example of right wing cancel culture.

Expand full comment

Just read Finklestein's bio - he's been canceled by the Left myriad times. A number of (liberal) universities have canceled or rather fired him over the years - at Hunter because he was outraged that he'd have to teach 4 days a week (I get it, socialists/communist intellectuals think that OTHER people should work, not them). Even uber-liberal Rolling Stone wanted nothing to do with him....

I guess he could get medal for being an 'All-time Lazy and Annoying Leftist Academic' - no wonder the enthusiasm for him by lefties.

You are a lazy bourgeois unwiped asshole.

Hardly.

Here's a very simple test for you: the most censored demographic by a wide margin are pro-Palestinian advocates and Palestinians. Platforms like Facebook and Twitter openly, and without shame, declare that they cooperate with the Israeli government when it comes to content management. Can you find me a single conservatism who has uttered a single word of concern regarding this?

Expand full comment

*conservative

There are infinite examples to demonstrate this. Norman Finkelstein himself was canceled by the right for his criticism of the Israeli government and hasn't had a job since. Republican controlled state legislatures all over the country are passing laws outlawing BDS. Now the right is trying to cancel Critical Race Theory, including in public schools and universities.

Expand full comment

Having a different policy position is not 'canceling'. Canceling as done by the left is to censure, 'mob', isolate and ostrasize individuals.

Expand full comment

Asserting that "passing laws to limit speech is not Canceling" is a good example of how to spectacularly lose an argument.

Expand full comment

Maybe nowadays, they did however interrupt heavy metal concerts a few decades ago.

Expand full comment

LOL you're joking, no?! Interrupting a concert is not 'canceling'...gosh, Leftists and Democrats disturbed just about every Trump Rally which Trump just used and made into a circus...

Expand full comment

No, they were forced out of the venue

Expand full comment

Yeah the right just ignores stuff … Like Hitler Franco Mussolini petain MBS the shah Netanyahu Trump McCarthy Nixon Hoover homos abortion civil rights … ? !

McConnell is a partisan asshole, period. He is anti-democratic and the internal threat. If this were in the antebellum period, he would be pro-slavery, a member of the pro-slavery Democratic Party. Of course the corollary that GOP supporters are anti-democratic and are the internal threat is also true.

Katie, you're talking too much, and ignoring Matt's responses. Boorish

More Finkelstein please.

The audio for Katie and Mr Finkelstein was painfully lacking. Hosts and guests must be micced well and have as decent the aural quality as Matt did on this episode. Had to stop listening to the extended interview. Thank you,

Great episode. I hope you can watch N. Finklestein on Zero Books 'this is revolution.' I know you are, like me, trying to make sense of American Democracy. It irritates me that you still believe that the Democratic and Republican parties individually and collectively aren't acting in concert to stifle democracy. Both parties are currently in power, and have been since 2014. In fact by using dueling media platforms and legal internet data mining they have achieved close to a 50/50 platform of influence which equals complete control by a Capitalist cabal. I am not asking that you jump on this conspiracy train with me, I just wish you would look at the evidence and recognize the possibility that no matter how loosely you define 'democracy', this isn't it.

'wish Matt and Katie had gotten into the policy differences of the Voting Rights Act. We all know about the various characters in the play. The Left really never discusses WHY the Right objected, I.e the federalization and centralization of yet more government power, much like found in the Soviet Union and China. There's a reason for 'states' rights. Matt & Katie you need to dig deeper.

Hi I have written something about the millions of people still believing in Trumpism and how they and the Republican Party will not give up until they are confronted. I would love it if you could read it. I await your reply because I didn't just want to send it. I thought that would be rude. Thanks for being here, We need you!
