The most disturbing thing regarding the Twitter Files are the number of people who have “turned” on Matt. Matt’s work defines quality and integrity and has done so for years. If he does make a mistake, he admits it and rectifies it. Mark Twain was correct when he said: "It's easier to fool people than to convince them that they have been fooled”.
I can't get over the "nothing burger" comments. Think about every time you had some issue with a social media platform... were you able to just email the head of the relevant department and have them fix it for you in less than 24 hours? After months of trying I couldn't even manage to deactivate my own Facebook profile because I forgot my password and used a pseudonym.
I read the tweets and, considering only the numbered 'twitter files' tweets, I don't see much there, at all. Plenty of hints of possible shenanigans and skullduggery, but there just isn't any real rancid meat there. I've been hugely impressed with Matt for a long time, since reading The Great Derangement, Hagee is just down the road from where I live. He's in the top few journalists I trust the most. I wanted that to be understood. As I read through these tweets, what I see is a lot of actual confusion about the laptop story and uncertainty about what to do. NO ONE can possibly honestly say the story doesn't smell, the facts about how some small fraction of the emails found on it were verified isn't in these tweets, or how MSM like WaPo and NYT bashed anyone even suggesting it ought to be looked into.
Taibbi says both sides pressure twitter to ban/block posts they don't like and says it's apparent from the files that it 's more from the left than the right, but that is actually absolutely an empty claim, the files he's gotten were from twitter, who knows how 'filtered' they were? Now, the Baker shit will come out in the second batch I assume? and it will be VERY interesting, but that's not in this first batch. And even if Baker filtered the files made available, how do we know what other filtering may have been done? How slanted the ratio of left to right influence actually exists would be extremely difficult to determine with any confidence without universal access to ALL the communications involved so accurate stats could be determined. If anyone disagrees with that, they're either being disingenuous or they just don't understand how this kind of thing works.

My suggestion for ending the idolization of Hollywood celebs - watch their most recent movies. The picture of Sean Penn with his bff Nazi pal should be the cure. And not fond of calling anyone who thinks Trump might have something to say a "Trumpian" is a shortcut to stereotyping.

I just told my kids the truth. Politics is conformist, corrupt and full of lies. The examples are endless. They are dual citizens, USA/Spain, and ethnically Catalan on their late mother’s side, so the idea that politics is totalitarian and Orwellian was always part of their thinking.
