Very sympathetic to trans people. Unlike most , I have met several in the years of attending 12 step meetings. I am however absolutely not willing to consider administering drugs, not to mention surgery or amputations to minors. Many are coming from broken families, suffering emotionally, have psychological problems and are desperately trying to fit someplace, get some approval, and want to please. Their brains are not fully developed. That is why we do not execute them when they commit capital crimes. Prison terms for adults conducting these procedures are fine with me. I hope the the kids who change later in life their minds about their surgeries can sue. The absurdity of a society where you commit a crime by giving 13 year old a glass of a red wine but not for cutting her breast off is manifest. Finally, how do you decide if the adults involved are not out to satisfy their own psychological and ideological needs by convincing these kids?

You need to have on experts who talk about the real health implications of transing children, such as Drs. William Malone, Marcus Evans, Michael Laidlaw, and Michael Biggs. It is beyond believable that the Trans Cult has so much power that the obvious extreme risks of halting puberty and all the maturation processes that go along with it (bone, brain, sexual organs, etc) are treated as unimportant or not real. Let alone the obvious extreme medical and psychological implications of cross-sex hormones and cutting off genitals and breasts. You need to have powerful, highly informed gender critical voices on your show such as Kara Dansky, Keira Bell (detransitioner), Lily Maynard, Meghan Murphy, and representatives of Fair Play for Women, 4th Wave Now, LGB Alliance USA, WHRC USA (Women's Hum.RightsCampaing).

Being female is not a costume, nor a creation of men, nor something that can be chosen. It is not something we take on and off, depending on the day. It is a biological fact. I hope sevender below does not unsubscribe and I hope Taibbi does not remove his/her post nor mine. We need this debate and it is ok to have it here. Adults can do what they want but children and teens are not capable of making these life-changing decisions. In England a lawsuit was just decided by the courts in favor of a person who underwent the whole transformation as a teen and lived to regret it. We need more pushback here too.

I wish Katie Halper did not use word “reversible” when mentioning puberty blockers and hormones. It trivializes the impact hormones have on the body, and the risks hormonal intervention has, including cancer. If a young girl takes enough Lupron and testosterone the effects are no longer reversible, her childbearing days may be over before they began.

The guest felt evasive and uninformed (states with anti-transgender laws).

But more importantly the guest was boring, and lacked anything interesting or original to say, instead it seemed to be talking points and unnamed studies that were referenced to as if they were credible.

The claim of the scientific consensus and validity of interdisciplinary groups (with an aligned purpose!) as unbiased judges was laughable.

Last point: it makes no sense to have the Substack subscribers wait for extra content. I would just drop the entire thing on substack as one long video, & then like a day later drop the free portion on the other platforms.

Good show, but here are some suggestions:

1) If you want to grow the audience I suggest making the free segments at least 1 hour. Less than 1 hour a week? That ain't it chief.

2) This ep seemed very unbalanced. There was like 30 min. of banter & 15 min. or so of interview with the guest.

As far the topic I don't think we should perform reassignment proceedures on children, for what I see as being obvious reasons. You can refer to studies that support reassignment in kids, etc.; from what I have seen they are in the minority in regards to scientific opinion. This issue is being exploited by political/media actors & some portion of the medical community for fun & profit. Then of course you have the honest actors, often Trans themselves, who seem to be so blinded by their own traumatic experiences or the experiences of someone they know that they don't have an issue with subjecting kids to new types of medical proceedures, etc. Let little girls live as boys if they want & vice versa, but making physical changes has long term consequences. There are many societies throughout history that have incorporated Trans people as opposed to rejecting them. This should be the goal; at its best the movement to allow kids to transition is horribly misguided & at its worst it is more exploitation.

Regarding Kamala, they were just trying to get out ahead of the bad press that comes with living in a staffed fortress. I would imagine that is why she is stuck there: personal security for herself & her family. However, her PR people fucked up again; this actually makes her look worse. "I would rather retire to the country; this is so bothersome!" etc. Kamala is basking in a whole new level of gentrification she never would have dreamed possible.

There’s no sense of proportion with trans people. With airtime and with everything else.

You can accept that some portion of children correctly predict that they will live happier lives in the long term as members of the opposite sex. And that preventing the development of secondary sexual characteristics of the “wrong” sense will enhance their happiness.

Even if that were to be proven true, it doesn’t change the fact that the overwhelming majority of children who think they’re trans will grow out of that phase. Which means you are actively subjecting a much large number of children to dysphoria than you would if you refused medical treatment until the age of majority. Except in this case it’s the privileged so-called “cis” kids who will suffer so it’s okay.

It’s impossible to escape the conclusion that there’s a lot of organized money behind this movement. It needs to be outed.

Let's bear in mind that not all Trans people support these proceedures, & that what we are seeing in media is a faction of the Trans rights movement. Whether this faction is a majority or a minority is unknown, it does not represent the whole. The organized money you are seeing behind this is media money. These people have no real ideology when it comes down to it; the debate around transitioning kids engages viewers & keeps eyes on the screen. If it wasn't for media driving the issue in order to cash in on the chaos, you wouldn't hear about it & fewer people would consider allowing it. I understand the danger of mental illness etc., but in my non-MD opinion these practices are unsound & some of this seems experimental in nature.

I already pointed out I am talking about trans activists.

Media is not creating these people out of nothing however. Someone is funding them.

I don't think there is some sort of conspiracy to get kids to transition. Again, what we are seeing is a a small number of people being given a huge mic, mostly because the topic stirs up controversy & because it fits with a broader ideological context that has become popular among people of a certain class.

...why?

I am finding it very hard to come to a conclusion other than that trans activists are one of the major forces for evil in the West. (This is from someone who two decades ago played a role in fighting for their basic civil rights such as housing and employment non discrimination. And I still know many average trans people who just want to be left alone.) The current crop of activists are the vanguards of authoritarianism, absolutely Maoist in their determination to infiltrate every intimate relationship and destroy trust by casting even family members as enemies. Everyone knows parents who are terrified at questioning their own children’s sudden obsession with changing gender.

They passionately advocate for the genital mutilation of minors and openly lie about it, claiming others are lying instead, and denying the existence of actual legislation they have lobbied for that places decisions of lifelong consequence in the hands of children, all of whom are struggling to develop an identity and most of whom will eventually settle comfortably as the gender they were recorded as at birth.

They are vicious enemies of science, pretending falsely that debates we never even had are all “settled” and ignoring the fact that there are two biological sexes and the existence of those sexes predates humans by hundreds of millions of years. American doctors are forced to be “affirming” of whatever hare ranged decision twelve year old makes or lose their positions.

Like French Revolutionaries, they mask their will to power behind a search for “safety,” as if bodies of trans people are clogging the streets and their homocide rate isn’t actually lower than the general population, except for street workers.

They negate the existence of women, lesbians and gay people. All you have to do is speak a magic formula and poof, you’re a woman, free to shove your dick in the face of every nine year old girl in the women’s locker room if you choose to. If you think you’re anything else, like an effeminate gay man, they’ll soon straighten you out.

Their ideology is utterly incoherent. If there are no sexes and no genders then there can be no dysphoria and no trans people. And you can soon expect every women’s sport to be led by men who recite a couple of nostrums until they retire and rethink.

Only a very, very dishonest person can pretend that it’s okay their entire dogma has become the enforceable law of the land without any debate of any kind whatsoever, imposed from above by elite institutions and probably a couple of billionaires, pharma companies and medical startups thrown in there as well.

I don’t need what’s happening transplained to me. Ive heard it again and again and again and again, like the creed I had to learn to recite in church as a child.

For fuck’s sake people, love your children more than you love your social media clout.

Thank you, I actually wish I didn’t have to agree since the right is abusing this issue so disgracefully. I’m 73 years old and for most of my youth and early adolescence I felt like I was a boy in a girls body. But by the time I reached my early 20s and found congenial lesbian peers, I realized how happy and comfortable I was being a lesbian woman. If hormone suppressors and other such drugs had been available when I was 12, I’m sure I would have jumped at the chance to take them. Children are not mature enough to make such dramatic life changing decisions. Such drugs are just too powerful!

Expand full comment

Right. And what is to be done with the bull dyke, the lesbian who loves women, loves being a woman, is a strong feminist, but feels most authentic in a tool belt and a pickup truck? Ironically, she’s the one who’s going to be “assigned” a new gender by someone else, because gender is now defined as a cluster of rigid gender stereotypes. For all the bullshit about “fluidity,” whatever that means, we couldn’t be further from the live-and-let live ethic of smoky queer bars of years past.

Agree. Thank you for taking the time to articulately to accurately explain this situation. Too few know the real situation and in wanting to ally with goodness support this evil. It is not about trans. It is about the activists dominating and influencing the conversation and changing laws to the detriment of those most defenseless.

Expand full comment

It is evil and I’m glad others are beginning to name it.

It’s child molestation.

Worse, it’s organized child molestation, child molestation as an ideology. Even the church never claimed molesting children was a moral good. It knew it was evil and tried to cover it up.

This is much more like NAMBLA, an organization dedicated to validating and legitimizing systemic abuse.

These zealots live in an alternate reality of their own making, as you can see from the lunatic above who apparently thinks she literally lives on Twitter and that her adolescent schoolgirl nonsense is a fine substitute for rational thought and a moral code.

They need to be stopped, forcefully and not apologetically.

You are saying a lot of things without bringing the receipts so it is all a bunch of crap falling out of your mouth. Gender is a construct. Ancient civilizations, including indigenous peoples in this continent recognize several genders and the problems only arrived with the colonizers. Bring some receipts of your claims because so far you are just a loud mouth bigot trying to prove a thing that is in your head.

I actually do know several trans people in different phases of their transition. I know one teenager who is transitioning. Nothing is done on a whim, it takes years of therapy, interviews, assessments. You are also spewing hate speech you heard from right wing talk radio.

So, oh enlightened one, explain to me what intersex people should do when they realize that who they really are is not what society told they should be? Do you know the incidence of intersex people in this country? Your language belongs in the middle school of hate. Grow up, read, learn.

And - a little bit more on Kamala Harris:

http://reason.com/archives/2018/08/21/backpage-founders-larkin-and-lacey-speak

Kamala Harris' office accused him of pimping, including some counts involving minors. The Texas state attorney general said he was "making money off...modern-day slavery."

Lacey and Larkin were also arrested and charged with "conspiracy to commit pimping." They spent four days jailed in Sacramento, California. Harris, who at the time was running for the U.S. Senate, called them "despicable" and labeled Backpage "the world's top online brothel."

News of the arrest was covered extensively in major media outlets, with Harris quoted prominently. Her complaint was that bad actors and teenagers sometimes used the site—and her evidence that Backpage "knew" this to be true was that it reported suspected underage ads to NCMEC and cooperated with police. Harris was using Backpage's history of working with law enforcement against it.

"Make no mistake," said Lacey and Larkin in statement that month. "Harris has won all that she was looking to win when she had us arrested. Like Sheriff Arpaio, she issued her sanctimonious public statement, controlled her media cycle and got her 'perp walk' on the evening news." While such targeting was not new to them, this was the first time a state had decided it was "okay to consider the First Amendment implications after, not before, hauling people off to jail."

In early December, a Sacramento Superior Court judge dismissed the case. On December 23, with just a few days left in office, Harris tried again, filing new conspiracy-to-commit-pimping charges against Lacey, Larkin, and Ferrer, along with allegations of money laundering. Ferrer also faced 12 counts of pimping. Again, all pimping and conspiracy charges were dismissed, though the judge allowed a money-laundering case to proceed.

"We've never, ever broken the law," Larkin says. "Never have, never wanted to. This isn't really—I know this is probably heresy—this isn't about sex work to me. This is about speech."

"This is the biggest speech battle in America right now," Lacey adds. "The First Amendment isn't about protecting the rights of the McLaughlin Group to speak their mind on television. This is specifically what the fuck it's about. Unpopular speech. Dangerous speech. Speech that threatens the norm. Not only do we have that right, our readers have that right. The [Backpage] posters have that right.

"We spent 40 years doing journalism, groundbreaking journalism, and they want to take all that away," he says—because "they don't like who exercised their constitutional rights to use our advertising platform. And that has no goddamn bearing. The law doesn't say, 'You get to pick and choose who exercises their constitutional rights by whether or not you like their lifestyle.' It's just incredible."

The entire strategy of gays was centered around coming out. In other words, gays and lesbians revealed themselves as people’s sons, daughters, neighbors, drinking buddies. People everyone already knew. It was a highly successful strategy.

If you notice, gays and lesbians have almost no asks anymore. After basic civil rights, home and workplace protections, and the right to marry, there is no more gay agenda. It turned out not to be a slippery slope at all. It was a checklist that was ticked off and completed.

Trans activists infiltrated gay organizations after gays largely abandoned them under the guise of fighting for similar civil rights, but they turned out to be the ones with the hidden agenda.
